Welcome To Kathi's Kids
There's help just for the asking! In a world of frustration, stress and trying to make ends meet, sometimes you need a helping
hand to take care of what really
matters...your
child(ren).
Kathi's Kids is a
FREE
community program that is here for you. With a dedicated volunteer staff, we want to
help relieve some of your cares. Let us help you with your child(ren).

What is The Cost?
This is a free program, however
donations are accepted. Checks can
be made out to Northco Development.

Is there anything I need to do?
You will be asked to fill out a
registration form for our records.
This will help us to know some basic
information about your child (i.e.
phone, name, address).
Why this program?
This is a genuine program to help
children to become all that they
were born to become. It is a program
that is staffed by volunteers,
people who just care enough to give
their time and service.
It has been a vision of Kathy
Shorter (founder of Kathi’s Kids) to
reach out to children in a special
way to help with the cares of life.
Kathy has shared on many occasions
her own life story of growing up
with a lack of encouragement and a
low self-esteem, and eventually (at
age 18) discovering she was adopted.
Now a successful author, television
host, mother of three of her own
children, together with her husband
Pastor Donald Shorter Sr. and the
Kathi’s Kids volunteers, she and
many other are fulfilling their
desire to give back to children in
need through Kathi’s Kids.
All a child needs is an opportunity.
We are here to help you give your
child that opportunity maybe an
opportunity you didn’t have.
Who are the people that will help?
They vary in their professions. Some
are attorneys, school teachers,
business owners, military personnel,
medical employees, homemakers,
college students and the list goes
on. All volunteers have had a
Washington State Patrol check and
are citizens concerned for our
children’s safety and well-being,
and are from various multicultural
backgrounds.
What time and day of the week?
We
are currently meeting on the first
Saturday of the month from 11:00am
to 12:15pm (times and Saturdays may
vary).
Where are you located?
The Academy of Excellence: 3211 -
112th Street East, Tacoma WA 98446
How does my child get started and
what ages are involved?
There
will be a designated area at your
location. The program begins at
11:00am (time may vary).
Registration forms must be filled
out and completed for your child(ren)
to participate in this program. This
is a free program that your
child(ren) will enjoy!
Ages 7-11 (1st grade - 5th grade), children must be
accompanied by an adult or a brother
or sister that’s a teenager*.
*Teenagers must be at least 13 years
of age. The registration form must
be filled out by an adult, in order
for your child to participate.
